Often we find ourselves in tribes by default. Workplaces are modern tribes. We may take a job because it suits our career aspirations and expertise. And then we find out who we are working with. This is not always the cause for popping the champagne cork.
Everybody yearns for recognition, more so because most of the time, they are hearing words of negation and criticism. Small and thoughtful gestures like noticing your subordinate doing some good work and compliment him then and there, can do wonders.
